L2 Point vs. Geosynchronous Orbit for Parallax Effect by Simulations

چکیده
The isolated dark low-mass objects in our Galaxy, such as free-floating planets (FFP), can be detected by microlensing observations. By the light curve can be defined three parameters, but only the Einstein time, TE involves the mass, the distance and the transverse velocity of the lens. To break this degeneracy, have to be detected the perturbations in the light curve due to the relative accelerations among the observer, the lens and the source. Recently, toward Galactic bulge are planned space-based microlensing observations by WFIRST, which can be located in L2 point or geosynchronous orbit (GSO). Using the simulations Monte Carlo in C++ we investigate that the better position for the parallax effect detection in microlensing events caused by FFPs is L2 point than GSO.

Numerical Analysis of Orbital Perturbation Effects on Inclined Geosynchronous SAR
The geosynchronous synthetic aperture radar (GEO SAR) is susceptible to orbit perturbations, leading to orbit drifts and variations. The influences behave very differently from those in low Earth orbit (LEO) SAR. In this paper, the impacts of perturbations on GEO SAR orbital elements are modelled based on the perturbed dynamic equations, and then, the focusing is analyzed theoretically and nume...
متن کاملThe Influence of Crystal Size and Material on Intercrystal Scattering and Parallax in PET Block Detectors: A Monte Carlo Study
Introduction: In this study, we utilized the MCNP4C Monte Carlo code to quantitatively evaluate the influence of crystal size and material on intercrystal scatter and parallax effects. Materials and Methods: For each of the 5 selected crystals (BGO, LSO, LYSO, LuAP, GSO), transport of 511 keV photons originating from a point source and incident on the central cry...

This paper proposes a methodology to design a regional navigation system using geosynchronous satellites and stratospheric airships. One important factor in designing a navigation system is dilution of precision. We design a regional navigation system based on the simulations of the system’s dilution of precision. The system would consist of geosynchronous orbit satellites and stratospheric air...
متن کاملPreliminary Study of Geosynchronous Orbit Transfers from LEO using Invariant Manifolds
The invariant manifolds of libration point orbits (LPOs) in the Sun-Earth/Moon system are used to construct lowenergy transfers from Low Earth Orbits (LEOs) to geosynchronous orbits. A maneuver is performed in LEO to insert onto a stable manifold trajectory of an LPO. The spacecraft travels to the host LPO and then follows an unstable manifold trajectory back to a geosynchronous orbit, where an...
متن کاملVariable Delay Testing Using ONE NASA / TM — 2002 - 211802
This paper investigates the effect of long and changing propagation delays on the performance of TCP file transfers. Tests are performed with machines that emulate communication from a low/medium-earth satellite to Earth by way of a geosynchronous satellite. As a result of these tests, we find that TCP is fairly robust to varying delays given a high enough TCP timer granularity. However, perfor...
